Mission Statement
Our mission is to help those in need through a volunteer effort of planting, picking, and delivering fresh produce, via a unique model that: heightens awareness of socio-economic issues, highlights the importance of local farms, and inspires volunteers across many generations and skill sets.

For now, we’ve gone inside for the winter.  Many thanks to everyone who helped to plant, pick, and deliver fresh produce to the hungry!  If you are interested in helping next year, be sure to click on the link below to make sure you are on the e-mail distribution list for volunteer opportunities in Central New Jersey.  If you are interested in more detail on how you can help, read on…

Ways You Can Help:

Volunteers start the planting

  • Adopt the garden for a week (weed, water, pick, deliver)
  • Help on gleaning days
  • Donate excess produce from your own farm or garden
  • Pick up produce at local grocery stores and deliver to food pantries
  • Fundraising
  • Provide accessible land for planting produce
  • Help to develop educational programs for kids
  • Help manage website – need expertise and experience with WordPress
  • Sponsor one of our annual fundraisers – the Blue Jean Ball in March and/or the Flying Pumpkin Festival in October

How to Volunteer

E-mail America’s Grow-a-Row with your availability and what you are interested in doing.  We need your e-mail to keep you updated on all of our “goings on” but we promise to keep it to ourselves!

Goings on at America’s Grow-a-Row:

Although we are finished with our on-the-farm activities for 2009, we continue to glean produce at two local Shop-Rites, which will allow us to donate some food all through the winter.  This will be a real blessing, given the hard economic times.  If you know of a grocery store that would like to contribute to this important work, please let us know.  We’ve been able to rescue over 1,200 pounds of fresh, healthy, perfectly good “not quite retail perfect” produce each week from each store.  It’s a relatively easy way to make a huge impact.  If you want to lead one of these efforts – anywhere in the country – please e-mail Chip. We appreciate the help!
